Last semester the HEAH collaborated with the School of Life, Science and Technology for the first time. Two groups of students from the honours programme worked on assignments from ACFC and Rijk Zwaan. The Honours Talent programme is for students who want something more than the regular curriculum. You then take extra modules totalling 30 EC on top of your regular study hours. These can be in-depth modules or modules that broaden your knowledge. After the project, the groups shared their experience with us.

“It was a very fascinating experience. The project was a very different way of working for us. Especially because you are working for people that really need your help. We usually do tests on the lab and we already know what the result needs to be, we just need to make sure we have deliver the same result. Here we are able to really offer our help with a real problem and something that is not often worked on, waste water. It was also interesting for us to learn how to communicate with a real life client.”
Rijk Zwaan
“First of all we were really amazed to learn about this industry, we had no idea this existed, let alone be so big and profitable. We all know about growing vegetables and that you have to plant seeds, in order to grow something, but we never really ask ourselves the questions, where do these seeds come from, until now. Also in this project, we were able to write about experiments that had not been done before. Usually we do tests based on previous experiences we find in existing literature. It doesn’t happen often we need to use a hammer in our experiments, so that was a first and a lot of fun to do.”
