Hanze East Africa Hub (HEAH) a good example of a sustainable form of internationalisation
Every year, universities and colleges can submit a good practice for the SustainaBul, the election of the most sustainable higher education institution in the Netherlands www.sustainabul.com. This year, the Hanze chose to submit the Hanze East Africa Hub as a good practice, resulting in a place in the top 5!
The judges’ report read: ‘The HEAH stood out because it focuses on sustainability outside the Netherlands. Hanze University involves its surroundings, but not only the immediate surroundings, but right away the whole world. It is very innovative because it works on concrete solutions, in collaboration with students and lecturers from partner institutions in East Africa. You make the world smaller, and that without travelling!
This school year, 113 Hanze students and about 25 students from East Africa are working on projects in the Hub. The aim is to accommodate 200 students next school year to facilitate even more sustainable, international projects.
